Broad College news articles

The Broad College needed articles for their website that showcased their students, programs, and events. To fill this need, I interviewed faculty and students about their experiences in the college and frequently checked the college events listings to find content for articles. I also implemented a series about a day in the life of Broad students. For these, I interviewed students of different majors about the activities they are involved in and the internships they’ve had to highlight the positive experiences the Broad College has given them and thereby promote the college.

Broad College newsletter

When my supervisor at the Broad College of Business left on maternity leave, someone needed to send out the weekly newsletter so that more than 500 people in the college would be informed about upcoming events and news. To fill that need, I communicated with faculty for content, gathered news, created the newsletter in the online template YMLP, and sent out the newsletter weekly to spread knowledge about college events and thereby unify faculty and staff.

Broad College social media

When I first started working at the Broad College of Business, the communications department had a fairly active Twitter, but nothing else. Therefore, they needed engaging posts for Facebook and more frequent content for Twitter. To fill that need, I implemented weekly hashtags such as #ThrowbackThursday and searched news sources for relevant content to share. I also started taking and creating photos for their Instagram account, which had not been used for months. Through all of this, I ensured that the Broad College social media sites became more active, gained followers, and effectively promoted the college to a greater number of people.

Poetry portfolio

I wrote these poems as part of my final portfolio for a poetry class at MSU. Workshopping these poems with a writing group gave me a new perspective on what it is like to have your work edited, and thus I am now better able to give constructive and respectful feedback to authors.

Conformity

I first started writing this novella in 2013 and then revised it for my senior thesis project with the help of Lev Raphael, a visiting professor at Michigan State University and an author of 25 books. The first chapter was accepted for publication in the Offbeat literary journal, and the completed novella is available to download on Amazon.
